Bowls England National Finals - August 2023

In a major achievement, Pam Waller and Sandra Wright represented Middlesex in the ladies pairs at the National Finals at Royal Leamington Spa.

In this annual event, the nation's top club players represent their counties in a high quality and demanding tournament.

In a tough schedule, Pam and Sandra won their first two matches making it through to the last 16 before bowing out against strong competition.

This is an excellent effort by two of the club's leading players and we are all extremely proud of them.

Asian Friendship Trophy

On Sunday July 30, in rather wet and unpleasant conditions we held our annual men vs ladies event for the Asian Friendship Cup.

After a lengthy losing streak, our men finally managed to win back the trophy. Congratulations to them and well done everyone for tolerating the conditions and making it as enjoyable as possible

Our worthy winners, represented by Ron and Lionel.

Webbs Trophy

President's Day

Saturday 9 July was the date for our annual Presidents Day, a day of fun activities, unconventional bowling and fund raising for this year's charity the Enfield Carers Centre.

The morning included traditional and family friendly games of roll-a-penny, hoop-la and a guess the number of sweets competition.

This was followed by a series of colourful bowls themed activities in the afternoon.

The weather wasn't just about good enough which made the cream tea in the clubhouse even more enjoyable.

Thanks to everyone that took part in the day and helped to raise a brilliant £700 for our president Ron Wright's chosen charity.

Ladies Invitation

Congratulations to Jacqui Thompson and her partner Mike Laurie who won the Ladies Invitation tournament on Saturday 24th June.

John Scott Trophy

Congratulations to Alan Jarvis, Stuart Oram, Julie Daly, and David Haywood on winning the John Scott Trophy competition in a very close match which kept us on the edge of our seats until the last end.

Well done and thanks to everyone involved in all the events organised over the bank holiday weekend.

Bowls Big Weekend

Many thanks to all those members who volunteered to help out over the Bowls Big Weekend on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May.

We had 22 visitors in total over the two days and, as a direct result of the weekend, we have signed up six new members. Three male and two female bowlers and this takes the year’s total to 12.

We are now up to 192 members which is very healthy in comparison to other local bowling clubs. We are still down on numbers compared to last year however, and we must never allow ourselves to become complacent. Every organisation needs to replenish its membership to succeed.

A warm welcome to all the new Club Members.
